Summary

The Retail Clerk at Rainbow Omega Garden & Gift Shop is a part-time position responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean retail environment, and driving sales of gift shop inventory. This role focuses on the "front-of-house" experience, ensuring every visitor feels welcomed and the shop is curated, organized, and professional. This position does not involve plant care or greenhouse production.

Work Schedule

  • Status: Part-time.
  • Hours: Approximately 15–25 hours per week.
  • Availability:
    • Must be available for shifts during standard shop hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
    • Saturday availability (8:00 AM – 2:00 PM).
    • Periodic availability for seasonal events, such as holiday sales or local festivals, is required.

Duties

  • Warmly greet all visitors; provide helpful information regarding gift shop merchandise; efficiently process sales transactions, orders, and returns.
  • Assist in creating and stocking seasonally themed displays for home décor and gift items; ensure all inventory is priced correctly and visually appealing.
  • Maintain daily cleanliness of the shop and checkout areas, including sweeping, dusting gift displays, and sanitizing high-touch surfaces.
  • Assist the Manager in receiving new shipments of retail gift products; help maintain accurate inventory counts and report low-stock items.
  • Assist customers with carrying and loading retail purchases (such as pottery or bagged goods) into their vehicles.
 
  • Accurately compile daily receipts (cash, checks, and credit cards) for the Manager/Business Office at the end of each shift.
  • Maintain a hazard-free shopping floor and report potential safety concerns immediately.
  • Assist with shipping retail orders and participate in various community festivals or off-site sales events throughout the year.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in retail or customer service preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must maintain a current Alabama driver’s license and successfully complete criminal history record check and TB screening. Must complete First Aid, CPR, and CPI training within 90 days of hire.
